    OK, here's my deal. I know an English teacher in Izhevsk. There is a company http://www.sv-agency.udm.ru/sv/school.htm
    That is a few teachers that will help set you up to Volunteer, they run a travel agency out of a school. It's legit, but I have an "IN" with my teacher-friend. 3 month "invitation". I get a roof over my head, breakfast/dinner and I doubt my bar tab will get too big. Tutoring is a big "under the table" business. I have taught school in the US, and help teach an "English As a Second Language" at a Community College. My Russian is un-schooled, sometimes good, usually horrible. I learn from summer employees and books, but I try.

    That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
    I'm easily amused late at night...

    @Columbo,

    They make good money? Is it thru their employer or under-the-table tutoring? I was under the impression the only way to make any good money is to build up a large private clientele where you can charge a lot more than you make on a teaching salary.

    private clients. i worked for a small company which found me clients for $40 - 90 mins. one i had was was $60 coz it was far away (and the guy was insanely rich). some american guys were on like a teaching program thing but i dont know what the money was like. my friend only works with privates and another did company stuff (he found them when he was out there) and i think now he does privates. all the money i got was in dollars and it was under table stuff (with privates it doesn't matter anyway tho)
