    Some good news

Last year I was going to give up learning Russian & my motivation was low, especially as I don't know any Russians and I've no links with the country (some of you might remember me moaning about it). But I love the language so I kept going. I started to use the Forum and I saw how many other people out there were in the same position. Last week I sat an exam I had decided just to 'turn up for' and I passed it..... I'm waiting for my cert to come in the post so that I can frame it. I'm really proud of me (!) I hope this will help anyone else who is finding it difficult because I really struggled with it at first. You can do it and it is really worth it.

    Ya pozdravlyalyu vas!

What kind of a test was it, and what do you get for a certificate (or certification?)?

    Great job Ирландскиеглаза!

Yeah, I am also curious about the certification, tell us more!

And a general question to all: When I was in St. Pete, I could take the goverment Russian test, I think there was 4 levels, where if you pass the 4th you get a certificate of speaking native Russian (even Russians fail this test, I heard)... I think I was a level 2 when I left, but I can't find anywhere in the US where they offer this test. Can one only do it in Russia?

    Some good news

Thank you. I'm still quietly pleased with myself.

In the exam you have to read a page of text and answer questions on it. There is also a section of grammar and finally you have to converse in Russian with the tutor for 10 minutes. This certificate is Upper Intermediate. I would imagine this has different shades of interpretation in different countries & that would also encompass any recognition abroad. The exam comes at the end of 60 hours of classes taken September - May in a 3rd level college. If anyone does know of an internationally recognised cert could they post it up?
