Thread: Russian Statement

I'd love to know how to say something flirtacious in Russian, seeing as I've got a Moldovan friend who speaks fluent Russian and it'd be cool to say something sweet to him in his native tongue.
So if anyone knows something short and sweet, I'd be much obliged.

Например ты - хирург, и делаешь операции по пересадке глаз. Тогда твой коллега может тебе сказать "У тебя есть красивые глаза" (в холодильнике например)

да видно, что у меня нет красивых глаз!

i was told never to use есть with adjectives. they say its because the emphasis is not on the existance of the thing in question.

no, its глаз. i dont know why actually. maybe becuase its normally found in the plural, ie глаза.

I think глаз is one of those old-school words that doesn't necessarily take the conventional endings, thus глаз for Мн. Ч. Род. It also has the Е.Ч. Род and Пред. "у" as options for endings...

I was also told not to use 'есть' with adjectives in the construction 'у меня ...' , and also with something that you were born with (I.E. your eyes).

Yeah, all it is talking about possession and avoiding unnecessary redundancies -- it's pretty straight-forward.
-If you have a "blue car" it's not important that you have a car, so much as you do a "blue" one. Obviously, if it's "blue", you have it.
-Like you said, unless you are some unfortunate perso,n you were endowed with two eyes, just like everyone else. Big deal. But if you have beautiful, brown eyes, then that's something worth talking about and stressing -- just like that car being a cool shade of blue.
