Maybe "a prairie home companion" could be considered somewhat religious?

    Try these very good shows:

"Wait wait don't tell me " very funny news quiz
    http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/r ... p?prgId=35

"Car talk" very funny talk show about cars (funny even if you don't have one)
    http://www.cartalk.com/Radio/Show/online.html

"All things considered"very informative of things what is happening in the world today. great variety
    http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/r ... hp?prgId=2

Some of mt other favorites aren't available online

    Hope this helps!

Sure -- if you consider airplanes to be birds and pianos to be brass instruments. I really wouldn't say that it's that religious. It's music, comedy sketches, etc. There may be religious elements and allusions, but it's hardly 2 hours of preaching and gospel hymns either.

I agree, just that my sister found it to have too many God references to her taste, so I thought a warning would be in order. I don't mind it though, becuase it is really making fun of everything religious

Any Russian podcast sites that anyone knows of? Talking that is, and not music.

Not podcast that I know of, but I get my radio fix here http://mikesradioworld.com/eu_ru.html

    and my television fix here
    http://rtr-planeta.ru/
    and also here
    http://www.1tv.ru/

Watching the news could be easier to follow since you get some visual cues and whatnot.

Are the television stations watchable over the web? I didn't see any links?

Yeh I've watched some before, can't remeber what sites though... I actually think it's harder to watch 'cause you get distracted by the pictures...

For RTR-Planeta just pick the quality you want at the top. I usually pick medium.

I don't remember how to watch channel one offhand...

Ah. Thanks. Yeah, you used to be able to watch СТС, РЕН, ТНТ and a few others for free, but the bastards went to a paid subscription format...

I'm not sure about the time issues though; you should be able to listen at like 2000-2200 Moscow time on Sunday though; not sure if that's appealing to you...
Yeah, I'll try to listen to it on Sunday if I'm home.

Say the names anyway, I can try to listen to them over the stream.

As for coast to coast, I forgot to tell yesterday, they let download podcasts only for members, so there's no way to listen to them for free over the net :(

It's a REALLY popular show though, so it's on many, many stations. I think a lot of times the local stations will stream their material, so it may be possible to pick up a stream that way?

Maybe these (I just picked them off the Coast to Coast affiliates list; they do have streams, but I don't know how well they work...)

Gene Burns was my favorite talk radio host in Boston, he is now in San Francisco, KGO-AM 810. He is by far the most eloquent wordsmith on the radiowaves. Just a brilliant, well read, well informed man. I listen to him from time to time. He is on 03:00 - 06:00 UTM (19:00 - 22:00 Pacific), so do the math for where ever you are.

Barmaley, oh I didn't know that there're lots of stations which stream it! I think, I'll find some stations with good quality now. Unfortunately those two you gave stream it using some 16 kbit/s ms media player codec which sucks because voices sound metallic and that irritates me. I'll try to find stations which use real audio codecs, I found just one so far, the quality is almost perfect but it doesn't have that program on Saturday, so I'll keep searching. Thanks!

capecoddah, thanks for your information as well!

Btw, your title is slightly wrong... it should be "radio stations ON the internet"

Internet should always be capitalised too, really <hides>. It is a pronoun.

Wow. Either you have something in your British water that makes you looney or you've been hitting the coke line a bit early today...

Internet/internet can be capitlized if you want; it appears in both forms, but I think that in general it's just lower case. What is NOT flexible is calling it a "pronoun." That's just farked up. I think what you meant to say was a "PROPER noun." :P

I'll be damned, you're right. It's scary, being around people whose knowledge of language is better than mine! Silly me.

Internet should be capitalised really, as it refers to a particular internet (international network). Geeks everywhere agree .

Internet doesn't mean "international." "Inter-" is a latin prefix meaning "between, among."
