I downloaded the game and am installing it now. It's been challenging to understand all the directions in Russian, but so far, so good!

PS - The LoTR community kinda looks like dating site with all the girl players posting their photos!!!

Have you tried going with a phonetic layout? You'd need to memorize the location of only maybe five or six letters.

zxc - I use one that is online, but I have to copy and paste my cyrillic elsewhere. Do you know where I could find software that would transliterate? I looked and was unable to find a reliable program. Would appreciate any advice you have!

I use a phonetic variant that looks like this:

You can find the necessary files and instructions at this site.

Once you set it up you can switch back and forth by pressing ALT+SHIFT.

The only letters that sometimes still trip me up are ш, щ, ч, ё, ъ and I get confused as to why the в and ж aren't reversed. They offer some alternative layouts out on that site and also offer instructions on how to modify the layout to your liking, though.

Hey. I already have been playing LOTRO for a while now, but none of my characters are on Mirkwood. I'm gonna have to fix that. Here's a list of the ones I already have on there:

[CHAR NAME, SERVER - RACE, LEVEL, CLASS, CRAFT, (KINSHIP)]
Ingolmien of Eldar - Elf, lvl 13, Loremaster, Woodsman
Ankalima of Eldar - Elf, lvl 11, Hunter, Woodsman
Otharien of Vanyar - Man, lvl 1, Captain
Tararwen of Vanyar - Man, lvl 7, Minstrel
Altohtarien of Vilya - Elf, lvl 13, Champion (The Lone Wolves)
Irisi of Vilya - Hobbit, lvl 11, Burglar, Armsman (The Lone Wolves)

Женобиа? Somehow it strikes me like "wife-that-beats".

It's from Zenobia, an ancient queen of Palmyra! She defeated the Roman army and conquered Egypt for a short time. Eventually Emperor Aurelian burned Palmyra to the ground and dragged her in golden chains behind his chariot through the streets of Rome in triumph. Amazing story!

It's "Зеновия" or "Зенобия" in Russian. "Женобиа" sounds very unnatural. At least -иа ending is totally wrong.
Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!

    Besides, Zenobia was already taken!

It is really too bad that Steam does not have LOTRO Russian. I wouldn't be so sad, but I also only have 2GBs hard drive space left. Oh, well. . . I guess I'll just have to play on my friend's computer next time I go on vacation. Either that, or just get rid of some more stuff on my computer. Nah, I'll just commandeer my friends'.

I'll post here again when I get set up with Russian LOTRO, probably not for a while still - starting another semester of Russian. Wish me luck!

BTW, LOTRO is awesome; masterrussian is awesome!

    До свидания!
    Namarie!
