Hi all,
Just thought I would say hello to everyone.
How long realistically would it take me to learn Russian?
Thanks
Andy

17.5 months, I think.

Hrm, I would have said 18.5 months. All those prefixed motion verbs...Originally Posted by Lampada
Kidding aside, it depends on how badly you want or need to learn Russian. Throw yourself into it wholeheartedly, give up all your other hobbies, gain five pounds because of all the hours you spend in the evenings sitting on your butt studying, and you'll be surprised how far you get in even a year. Or take things slowly and pick up little bits and pieces over ten years. You'll get out what you put in.
It's a great language, totally worth it. Even the five pounds.

Seriously though, a lot of it will depend on your enthusiasm to learn. I can't imagine how hard it would be to learn Russian if I wasn't completely infatuated with it.
