Heh, yeah, that's about as advanced as you can get.
Or - it's about as advanced as you can never get because many Russians don't know grammar as well as you'd know if you were as advacned in Russian as me. I mean that you can get even more advanced in Russian in terms of grammar.

So you wanted to learn Russian for 2 years. Right?

I suspect it will take 5 years. It is a rather difficult language.

Go to the Control Panel and click on the "Regional and Language Options".
Then click on the "Languages" tab. Then click on the "Details" button.
Then click on the "Add" button and add "Russian".
You can jump between English and Russian by pressing "Shift+Alt".

I managed it in 3. 1 of that was spent here. The head of the Russian department here puts me in the "heritage speakers" category as though my parents are immigrants or something.

Добро пожаловать на форум! Welcome to the forum!

I think it would take that long to become fluent, but she didn't say she wanted to be fluent, only be able to have everyday conversations. I'd say that would take 2-3 years, depending on how much you study. Plus, you have the advantage of having a lot of native Russian friends so that time could be reduced even more.

Don't worry, everyone has problems with getting used to the alphabet. Just sound out the words like you did when you were an infant learning English.

As a "Heritage Speaker", I can tell you the trick is to listen to music and watch movies. (while reading lyrics and possibly subtitles)

If nothing else, you'll at least learn natural ways of phrasing things.

Это, несомненно, самая трудная область изучения иностранного языка!

That is, without a doubt, the hardest region of learning a foreign tongue!

    (maybe часть works better?)
