Hey Krysten! How are you doing? I'm 99.98% sure you'll meet a lot of great friendly people here. Especially if you post fairly often. Where do you live?

nevermind, I just didnt know how to reply your message lol. So, how advanced is everyone in russian?. So far I just know some words and the alphabet lol
There are lots of people here, so I think it's hard to say how advanced everyone is in Russian. Seems like the members who post a lot know Russian very well/well. Don't worry too much over how well you speak Russian. If you've only just started learning Russian, you'll surely find the forum extremely useful.
I think a couple of the forumites are pretty advanced like Rtyom, Leof, RedSanchous, Dmitiri and others...
You got one big signature! Who is this guy?
The name of that guy is written on the signature. Be more careful!
Yes, you're right, I speak pretty good Russian. Thanks for praising my Russian. Actually, I don't think we should mislead the new member.
Yes I can see the name, but it doesn't help me to know who the guy is, unless I do some research myself! And I would much rather have the person who apparently likes this artist tell me about him, rather than reading some boring article about him :)
that guy is Dima Bilan, and im a HUGE fan of him lol, hmm...ill try to resize it then so it wont be so big lol. Dima Bilan's whole site is in russian thats one of he reasons I want to learn russian besides the fact that ALL my friends are russian and I love the way it sounds and ive wanted to learn russian since I was 10.
I think she meant she didn't know how to use the quote button yet, until she tried it and it worked.Quote:

I resized it ^ . Yeah I didnt know how to quote lol . Thanks for welcoming me :)
Okay, now, I must know, since you're from New York: are there really hamsters at the zoo at Central Park? :P
Mmmmm, Dima Bilan
He is representing Russia at Eurovision.
Welcome!
"pretty advanced" = native speakers, lolQuote:

How is it true? If you live in America, you must have American friends over there. Or I misunderstood your post?Quote:

Go to the Control Panel and click on the "Regional and Language Options".Quote:

Then click on the "Languages" tab. Then click on the "Details" button.
Then click on the "Add" button and add "Russian".
You can jump between English and Russian by pressing "Shift+Alt".
im 15 5 years lol and I still want to
I managed it in 3. 1 of that was spent here. The head of the Russian department here puts me in the "heritage speakers" category as though my parents are immigrants or something.Quote:

Добро пожаловать на форум! Welcome to the forum!
I think it would take that long to become fluent, but she didn't say she wanted to be fluent, only be able to have everyday conversations. I'd say that would take 2-3 years, depending on how much you study. Plus, you have the advantage of having a lot of native Russian friends so that time could be reduced even more.Quote:

I know the alphabet and a couple of words. But I cant yet read err "fluently" it takes me a while to figuire the words out if they are really hard.
My dad tried to teach me some russian that he learned from his friends over at his job but both of us never really kept up with it. :dunno:
Don't worry, everyone has problems with getting used to the alphabet. Just sound out the words like you did when you were an infant learning English.
As a "Heritage Speaker", I can tell you the trick is to listen to music and watch movies. (while reading lyrics and possibly subtitles)Quote:

Это, несомненно, самая трудная область изучения иностранного языка!Quote:

I wish I knew what that said ^.......sounds is all I know.....I wish I knew what they meant though. Any suggestions as to where I should go from here, letters and a couple of words......what should I do now :?: I always listen to dima's songs but havent really understood what the heck he was saying in them lol
That is, without a doubt, the hardest region of learning a foreign tongue!Quote:
