It is obvious why. Nа is used for Islands, areas, not countries. Na implies Ukraine is a region (of Russia), and not a country. The reason why it is Na Ukraine is because it originally was a region of the Russian empire. Well, look at the word! It is a край! у-КРАИ-на. you don't say в край - but you do say на край. that is why it has always been на, and alway will be. :wink:
А точнее, "окраина" :wink:
