Thread: Harry Potter Translation

I am trying to read Гарри Поттер и Тайная Комната. I have already read three other Harry Potter books in Russian, but this writing is proving to be difficult to comprehend. I often must use the English version to make sense of it. I am reading a translation of М.Д. Литвиновой.
Can any of you who are familiar with this translation tell me if the writing in Russian is unusual, difficult, or non-standard? Maybe it is just a matter of the style of Литвиновой? You must understand that for a learner of a new language, when ideas and language that should be easy to understand becomes confusing and thus frustrating, it is discouraging to the learning process.
