Gun-free zones are recipe for disaster

By Ted Nugent : WACO, Texas (CNN) -- Zero tolerance, huh? Gun-free zones, huh? Try this on for size: Columbine gun-free zone, New York City pizza shop gun-free zone, Luby's Cafeteria gun-free zone, Amish school in Pennsylvania gun-free zone and now Virginia Tech gun-free zone.

Anybody see what the evil Brady Campaign and other anti-gun cults have created? I personally have zero tolerance for evil and denial. And America had best wake up real fast that the brain-dead celebration of unarmed helplessness will get you killed every time, and I've about had enough of it.

Nearly a decade ago, a Springfield, Oregon, high schooler, a hunter familiar with firearms, was able to bring an unfolding rampage to an abrupt end when he identified a gunman attempting to reload his .22-caliber rifle, made the tactical decision to make a move and tackled the shooter.

A few years back, an assistant principal at Pearl High School in Mississippi, which was a gun-free zone, retrieved his legally owned Colt .45 from his car and stopped a Columbine wannabe from continuing his massacre at another school after he had killed two and wounded more at Pearl.

At an eighth-grade school dance in Pennsylvania, a boy fatally shot a teacher and wounded two students before the owner of the dance hall brought the killing to a halt with his own gun.

More recently, just a few miles up the road from Virginia Tech, two law school students ran to fetch their legally owned firearm to stop a madman from slaughtering anybody and everybody he pleased. These brave, average, armed citizens neutralized him pronto.

My hero, Dr. Suzanne Gratia Hupp, was not allowed by Texas law to carry her handgun into Luby's Cafeteria that fateful day in 1991, when due to bureaucrat-forced unarmed helplessness she could do nothing to stop satanic George Hennard from killing 23 people and wounding more than 20 others before he shot himself. Hupp was unarmed for no other reason than denial-ridden "feel good" politics.

She has since led the charge for concealed weapon upgrade in Texas, where we can now stop evil. Yet, there are still the mindless puppets of the Brady Campaign and other anti-gun organizations insisting on continuing the gun-free zone insanity by which innocents are forced into unarmed helplessness. Shame on them. Shame on America. Shame on the anti-gunners all.

No one was foolish enough to debate Ryder truck regulations or ammonia nitrate restrictions or a "cult of agriculture fertilizer" following the unabashed evil of Timothy McVeigh's heinous crime against America on that fateful day in Oklahoma City. No one faulted kitchen utensils or other hardware of choice after Jeffrey Dahmer was caught drugging, mutilating, raping, murdering and cannibalizing his victims. Nobody wanted "steak knife control" as they autopsied the dead nurses in Chicago, Illinois, as Richard Speck went on trial for mass murder.

Evil is as evil does, and laws disarming guaranteed victims make evil people very, very happy. Shame on us.

Already spineless gun control advocates are squawking like chickens with their tiny-brained heads chopped off, making political hay over this most recent, devastating Virginia Tech massacre, when in fact it is their own forced gun-free zone policy that enabled the unchallenged methodical murder of 32 people.

Thirty-two people dead on a U.S. college campus pursuing their American Dream, mowed-down over an extended period of time by a lone, non-American gunman in possession of a firearm on campus in defiance of a zero-tolerance gun ban. Feel better yet? Didn't think so.

Who doesn't get this? Who has the audacity to demand unarmed helplessness? Who likes dead good guys?

I'll tell you who. People who tramp on the Second Amendment, that's who. People who refuse to accept the self-evident truth that free people have the God-given right to keep and bear arms, to defend themselves and their loved ones. People who are so desperate in their drive to control others, so mindless in their denial that they pretend access to gas causes arson, Ryder trucks and fertilizer cause terrorism, water causes drowning, forks and spoons cause obesity, dialing 911 will somehow save your life, and that their greedy clamoring to "feel good" is more important than admitting that armed citizens are much better equipped to stop evil than unarmed, helpless ones.

Pray for the families of victims everywhere, America. Study the methodology of evil. It has a profile, a system, a preferred environment where victims cannot fight back. Embrace the facts, demand upgrade and be certain that your children's school has a better plan than Virginia Tech or Columbine. Eliminate the insanity of gun-free zones, which will never, ever be gun-free zones. They will only be good guy gun-free zones, and that is a recipe for disaster written in blood on the altar of denial. I, for one, refuse to genuflect there.

What's the point in these "gun-free" zones if everybody beyond them has guns? You should make the whole country a gun-free zone and to BAN GUNS completely.
It's a shame that the shootings like in the Virginia Tech are almost everyday occurrence. So stop whining that there are not enough guns in USA, it's ridiculous.

Well, that is exactly the point of Ted Nugents article. Gun Free zones are silly.
But if you read further you will find situations that relate to the other thread on the VA Tech Shootings. Proof that someone legally carrying a gun in school CAN and HAS saved the day and prevented further violence from crazed gunmen.
So, let's not here any more if this, "Oh, guns are evil and too dangerous for the average person to own and especially take to school, Oh, heaven forbid! I think I'm gonna just DIE and fall down like a limp daffodil if I ever even just catch a glimpse of one of those awful gun thingys. Aargh! .........Oh, by the way, does anyone possibly have a spare copy of The Village Voice? Because I think I saw an add in it for Hot Pants for Men yesterday and I left my copy down at the Y with these two really nice fellows who asked me go out to a retro '70's disco to-night. "

Sorry bassuro, but the "General Discussion" forum is by definition: "The place to discuss general topics, meet new friends, share your experience and more.", and is NOT excluded only to Russian, or Russian topics. If you are annoyed about the topic, or the discussion, then don't post.

I've visited this forum for a while so I know that topics in the "General Discussions" forum should generally be related to Russia in some way.

Sometimes there are notable events that demand mention that aren't related to Russia, but there's no need to turn this into a gun forum.

Anyway, I was simply expressing my opinion on the matter. You started this topic because you wanted to hear peoples' opinions, yes?

It is related to Russian in some way. It relates to VA Tech thread which relates to the differences between how we handle our school massacres and how Russians handle their school massacres such as Beslan. The parents of the kids in Beslan took matters into their own hands when they thought the cops were not doing enough. That's is what we should do here in USA. Our cops waited outside the Columbine school listening to kids getting shot for 45 minutes before they went inside.

Grow some balls and learn how to protect yourself.....no one else will save you.

You're talking about two absolutely unrelated issues! Beslan was a terrorists attack, it has nothing to do with gun control or it's absence.

While VA Tech is just another depressed or crasy person shooting left and right just because he can grab a gun any minute. Gun control can be a huge help in decreasing the number of such events.

So, because the killers at Beslan had a religious/political motive, Russian people react differently when being shot at? And what good did your Russian gun control do you against preventing Beslan?

Gun control is good to make you safe from the crasy neighbour or an ordinal criminal. And I'm happy with that. But no internal law or rule can stop terrorists with explosives and Kalashnikovs or external threat (say, NATO attack, he-he). And no gun in your pocket can defend you from them either. More likely you'll be shot first and get those around you killed.

So leave it to the government, or you will turn your country into a war zone similar to some African states with their almost permanent civil wars.

Interesting point! About African states, I mean. I have often wondered why some countries have this almost permanent state of war. I think it is because of the customs, traditions and in particular the mindset of these people that they have so much corruption and killing. .......Not because gunpowder was invented!

I am not worried about USA becoming like Somalia or Sierra Leone or Rwanda. Basically, people in the US are little more civilized but we do have enough criminal types to warrant owning a gun for protection. Other countries have high gun ownership and don't have huge problems, like Switzerland. (For some reason the Swiss don't go around shooting each other. Must be a lot of nice guys in Switzerland.)
The way I look at it is, that every man is the provider and protector of his family and here in America, if he is not prepared to take the responsibility to arm himself and defend his home and family then he is not much of a protector or a man. As a matter of fact he is downright foolhardy. Have you not heard the saying, "A mans' home is his castle."? Ultimately, everyone is responsible for their own safely.

Police are very good at drawing white chalk lines around dead bodies!

PS: It is crazy not crasy. Basurero already told you но ты это уже сразу орять сделал.
