Just kind of a funny, quirky story.

    Thanks for the link TDK.

I'm suprised there was no radiation.

The bear looked at the car, and reflections of fire danced in his eyes. He knew what to do.

The article didn't say there was no radiation, it said radiation levels were normal. How much is normal for a missle silo? I have no idea.

I'm just curious to know why there was money stashed in a missile silo.

Perhaps it is old money taken out of circulation?

And who would call the authorities if they found bank notes strewn about everywhere?

I would guess that after they launched their nukes, they hoped that they would somehow survive the incoming nukes from the US, take their eleventy billion rubles to some far-flung village in Kamchatka that hadn't been irradiated yet and party down like it was 1099.

But seriously, that site sucks. Their articles have really ghetto-funk clipart and I've seen them just copy and paste stuff from other sources before. That's why I don't go there anymore.

    anymore.
I'd staked some food instead. You can't eat money and the only hard currencies after the conflict would be food and clean water...

They didn't say there WASN'T food either. It's just that money is far more interesting -- something you can write an article about. Would you rather hear about how a huge stash of money was found or about how 40 boxes of Twinkies were found? You are right, of course, that the money would most likely be useless, but in case you haven't noticed, people don't necessarily think things through very well.

I don't know. Twenty year old nuclear twinkies could make a fine story.

Yep, I've heard this story before. Allegedly, those were old Soviet bills, useless paper.

Or toilet paper. You might get a bit of a glow down there, but hey, who would turn down free toilet paper?
