It is fair! What effect did they think the demolishing of the monument could make? It was dedicated to neither the Soviet reign, nor the Soviet troops who were stationed in postwar Estonia. It was a memorial to several young men who had lost their lives defending their own and other Estonians' land.
Latvia and Estonia are teasing a bear. It won't be surprise if it bites off their heads.
PS: I would appreciate it if anyone would correct my errors in the above.
Thanks for your corrections chaika!
Fairly! == This word makes no sense to me.

Instead of "neither to X nor to Y" I would write "to neither X nor Y," and I would not repeat "young," but these are stylistic quibbles.
I think he means "It's only fair."Quote:

"fair" makes no sense. Leofs' statement does not imply fairness on the behalf of Estonians. He must be thinking of another word.
I wished to say it was justly, naturally, something what one could expect. So my dictionary says - fairly - справедливо. The events which happened afterwards the demolishing of the statue were fair.
OK but what you have written about the situation makes me think that you don't that it is fair.
I know it's a typo, but I corrected so that others could understand.Quote:

Then I have to explain myself. I think the way the Estonian government shows its antipathy to the Soviets is unfair. But I do think it's fair that they got those chaotic situation in the streets of Tallin. Both Latvia and Estonia play with the fire.
Another bs I don't understand. The hell with the monuments. It ain't that urgent a thing to worry about. :x
In other words, what goes around comes around!
I have heard it suggested that they removed the monument to make room for some sort of corporation to put a building. What do you think?
What for would they dismantle the monument otherwise? Mercantilistic thinking is no thing I wonder about since my growing-up.
There was no such a reason for replacing the graves and the monument, I suspect. The only reason was to provoke Russia.
Thank you for correction tohca! :D
It's just two groups of idiot nationalists shouting at each other.
It is of course!
Why do you automatically assume that being occupied by the SU was subjectively better than being occupied by the Nazis? They were both unwelcome, brutal, oppresive, foreign powers. The only difference, from Estonia's point of view, is that the SU won and was able to build monuments with insincere and hypocritical inscriptions.Quote:
