You could do the same for French too, though...

now will you only be applying this attack to russian or slavic languages in general? Shite, why not most modern languages? You know English was originally german, and was assualted by the french and latin?

I would say english is originally germanic, not necessarily german, but then again I am quite particular.

Most of the techincal terms in Russian come from English. You could easily find 100 words just from that

english still is germanic. also look at different dialects of english, for example, canadian english spelling retains the britishisms like spelling it cheque because britain was influential in canda's banking industry, yet they use all american spelling and slang for automobiles, because america was influential in their auto industry (ie detroit was in proximity to canada, which led to canadians buying american cars, and all the handbooks for mechanics were printed in american english)

Of course. I think every russian can tell even more, than 50 words: everything, connected with a computer (printer, scanner ...) , management, marketing and so on...

Probably such names as Ruslan, Yaroslav, Vyacheslav, etc. examples of English assault on great Russian language.

All the names of U.S. cities are exact copies: Нью-Йорк, Вашингтон, etc. But check how they changed the Москва (Moscow)

The US isn't responsible for the English language.

    In fairness...

We have already discussed this (I did one of my monologues again):
    http://masterrussian.net/mforum/view...026&highlight=

and in fairness, English has done pretty much the same to Москва as Russian has done to Washington (not Vashington - and besides, the stressed 'a' here sounds like an 'o' - a nice opposite to what happens in Russian!) and made it easier to pronounce in line with the rest of the language to which the place name has been imported. :P

When you transliterate Washington as Ўошингтон, we'll transliterate Москва as Maskva. OK?! Until then, just accept that very few languages are going to be 100% correct when pronouncing a foreign place name.

Ў should be adopted into Russian for foreign words.

I've heard some Americans saying Moskva instead of Moscow. But my original point was that nations tend to approximate the authentic pronunciation of foregin cities. It was a part of a joke that now we have thousands of English words that invaded Russian.

The worst worldwide brand name is "Bluetooth" IMHO. I guess that there are not many languages that have "th"-like sound.

You know what I was thinking..
Like, for us...we could spell Москва as Moskva real easy like right, so it's really ridiculous that we don't...but in cases like Washington they'd have a world all not...the way it usually looks and weird you know...

My point is...that it's usually much easier for foreign words to be written and said correctly than it is for English words to be written in foreign languages...and it's kinda lame and stuff...

    You know? Lol.
