Can you get condoms on Russia?

I have a friend that was an exchange student in Russia and he said he couldnt get any condoms while he was there.

Is that true or is it just that he doesn't know where to get them?

That's because I was operating in the area where your friend was staying and had bought all the condoms in the nearby farmacies.

Russia has a bad AIDS situation at the moment, yet they don't sell condoms as widely as other places. Here in the UK they have condom machines in almost every public toilet. I didn't notice a single condom machine when I was in Moscow.
