Ok, now I get thatt the verbs with the extra bit on them, like сделать are the perfective while the basic form делать is the imperfektive....

Johanna, the perfective verbs are conjugated like present tense verbs but refer to the future when they are. Only imperfective verbs form their future with быть. Past tense is the same for both.
