Em.. interesting. Wonder when the change started to take place for the phrase как угодно, from being a neutral /positive "as you wish" to something negative. BTW, what would как угодно mean nowadays?

True true. But somehow какой бы то ни было does have a nice ring to it that the shorter versions don't. It think the shorter versions lack the 'uumph.'
