To me, not very well. But I don't think, in this case, it has much to do with picking on Russians.

The "bear with me" joke was funny.
"Who let the dogs out" joke was funny.
    "Dog bite" joke...

Well, I'm afraid (or should I say "glad"? :) ) that I haven't seen many of that particular kind, as I try to stay away from them. And I didn't expect this one to be like that.
    I fell into a...

    And while I'm here.
I want to warn you against watching "The Hills Have Eyes" (2006 one, I haven't seen the original). It's a horror movie with more than plenty of gore, with a ridiculous premise,...

Do you know that you could put the URL there and get the whole page translated at once?
  14. Re: Favorite movie/book phrases or quotes??

I was never able to get all the intricacies of the plot. Nor did I try too hard. :) All I was interested in were characters, their predicaments, good, or bad, luck, the nerve strain.
  15. Re: Favorite movie/book phrases or quotes??

I didn't see it, but I've read Russian Wiki and aforementioned thread, and I have some "information to be pondered over."

    What about "Гитлер капут"?[/quote]

Only Russian speech was subtitled. Schellenberg was translating from English for Himmler and what he was saying was subtitled. He didn't translated from German, obviously.

All that talk about Winnie-the-Pooh reminded me of Evgeniy Leonov (who was doing Winnie-the-Pooh) and subsequently of a great film with him playing the lead, one of the leads anyway. It's "Старший...

  23. Re: Favorite movie/book phrases or quotes??

Speaking of highbrow philosophy - it had never appealed to me in Lem's works. What I praise him for is "The Invincible", which is sci-fi drama, and the series about Ijon Tichy, which is sci-fi...
