And there was Latin at the time on the Moravian Empire. Slavs could have just become Latinized like the French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italians. They chose to stay Slavic.

Yes it is too much like Russian.
We had similar comments ... From Serbians that it is too much like Serbian and from Slovaks that it is too much like Slovak.
