Not at all. Note: you need to input the stress after the vowel.
In my Opera ALT+769 also works correctly, but this is what I get when I type ALT+769 in UltraEdit: те☺ст
I've noted people make bold the vowels in stressed syllables. There is a simpler way, a special character that you put after a stressed vowel. It is shown by all the modern browsers correctly.
