Not for a native English speaker. The phrase "writhing in pain" has a completely different connotation than "gyrating wildly to dull the pain". The first phrase is passive, the second is active.

The text is a perfectly logical statement. The sentences that follow are all illogical in themselvesz and do not have a logical relationship to the text.
Unless this is test of non-logical thinking....
