Lampada, Alexsms! Yes, when talking about arrival, I agree we say "пришёл" or (officially) "прибыл".

But what I mean is the train motion: идёт VS едет.

Hm... Something disputable again. I agree, "поезд ходит" is more frequent, but I do not see anything wrong in "поезд ездит" at all.
Regional differences again? (We already encountered some on this...

It is not a strict rule.
But if you try following what you proposed, I would say you'll get it right in most of cases :)

You confuse two different things.

1. "Because train doesn't use another mean of transport in order to arrive" - it is wrong to think that "ехать" is only used for something which uses another...
