Name's Dave.

I am a 19 year old bloke hailing from the south-west of England. A couple of months ago I became bored with my own language and decided it was high time I learned another; for some odd reason, I picked Russian. Everyone around me reckons I'm mental because of it

I joined this forum to help people with their English and to get help with my Russian. I don't know much - very limited grammar, very limited vocabulary - and so will welcome any and all corrections directed my way. I do consider myself fairly proficient at the English language, however, and will gladly take any and every chance to try to correct something or to try to answer a question.

Right, now to attempt some Russian without looking at a textbook...

У тебя хорошо получается говорить по-русски = your Russian is good (very well)
Расскажи что-нибудь еще - у тебя есть хобби? = do you have a hobby?

Yes, I play the bass guitar (Да, я играю на басс-гитаре? My dictionary says it's in the prepositional case, so...) I'm better at playing bass than I am at speaking Russian

In the sentence "У тебя хорошо получается говорить по-русски", why is the 'У' there and why is говорить in the infinitive? I have a bit of a thirst for knowledge...

The verb requires them. So You manage to do something will be У тебя что-то получается (Something manages at you).

Punk rock is correct. I find the Russian "панк" quite amusing

There are two Russian bands I like: Король и Шут и Ленинград. (Я люблю два русский группы, Король и Шут и Ленинград. I think the symbol that looks like two of these '<' things needs to be used there but I don't know where the button is on my keyboard )

Oh and "When I was 19 years old I had friends who play as you a bass" = "When I was 19 years old I had friends who, like you, played bass" or just simply "When I was 19 years old I had friends who played bass".

" Repetition and Irritation with "Always"
The Present Continuous with words such as "always" or "constantly" expresses the idea that something irritating or shocking often happens. Notice that the meaning is like Simple Present, but with negative emotion. Remember to put the words "always" or "constantly" between "be" and "verb+ing."
Examples:

• She is always coming to class late.
• He is constantly talking. I wish he would shut up.
• I don't like them because they are always complaining. " ENGLISH PAGE - Present Continuous

так в итоге = я сделала ошибку в предложении = I always choose a wrong time..
кроме того, что вместо time надо было писать tenses??? Вы всё просто улучшаете или в корне поправляете? а?

Как я понимаю, I alwais choose значит, что я действительно всегда их путаю. а I'm always choosing значит, что я делаю это слишком часто.

ну если так = тогда ВСЁ без ошибок

Ну, если уж очень раздражает, то можно и Present Continuous. Для констатации факта достаточно Present Simple.
