    Buranovskiye Babushki to represent Russia

Buranovskiye Babushki will represent Russia in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku.
They are originally from the Udmurt Republic, from the village of Buranovo.
Udmurts are Finno-Ugric peoples. The lyrics of their song are partly in English and partly in Udmurt.

PS: And Britain will be represented by Humperdinck. Let the epic battle begin!

Their 2010 Eurovision bid sounded more authentic than the new "Europoped" song. But we chose Petr Nalich instead...

Humperdinck, are you kidding! But that fits with the English view of the Eurovision. The UK refuses to take it seriously whatsoever.

Well I like the ethnic folksy stuff in Eurovision and it's interesting when countries put upset somebody like that, rather than Europop etc.
But I don't think this one will win! It would be fun if they did though!

The Swedish entry this year is terrible - but it one a very complicated national vote... people are obsessed with Eurovision in this country.
The winner song sounds like a 1980s synth pop song. Unbelievably kitchy! In English, blah! I liked it better when everyone had to sing in a national language of theirs. Not sure why this rule was changed.
