I never celebrate it. I even can't imagine how I would.
No, it's not a holiday AT ALL. Just some formal one.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

I piously celebrate any day one can stay in bed till afternoon.

We celebrated with a family reunion, opening a swimming season, and a couple of drinks) Though I don't remember any thouhgts about Russia
I have never celebrate this day. I hate that day when USSR demolished into several independent nations. Ok, we couldn't build communism, but it is not mean that we must crush all the country. There is one law: divide and rule. I think that it law was applying to the USSR.
