This is correct. "я" after "ъ" sometimes sounds like "и" or "e".

For example:

объявление -> "объевление"
предъявите -> "предъивите"

Я is usually reduced to и in unstressed positions (but not in the last sylable):

язык - sort of like йизык

Do you, guys, need a recording of these words? I could, for example, make a recording of йазык, йизык, so you can hear the difference. Both are correct though.
