    Penpal from Russia wanted!

Hello, my name is Tom and i am teaching myself Russian. I would really like to correspond with someone from Russia, although you have to bear with me as I just started a few weeks ago so patience is a must!

I am college educated (engineering) here in the US (also I was born and raised here in the United States) so I understand English very well and would be honored to help YOU with your English! Please let me know if you are interested! -Tom

Can some well informed person please explain to me why Russian people so often write out their e-mail addresses like that "dtep at ua.fm" or like our beloved Yulka wrote "tynx dog mail dot ru". Does anybody know? And BTW, is the Russian equivalent for "@" "собака" or "собачка". Or maybe both of them mean dog..

Usually "собака". "Собачка" is diminutive from "собака".
