    Email format against spammers

It is known that spammers search through forums like ours and gather emails posted there. However, you can protect yourself effectively. When posting your email address for a potential pen pal, I recommend changing it a bit to avoid getting on a spammer's list. Example:

    Your email: name@mydomain.com

Changed email: name at domain dot com
Or: name _ at _ domain _ com
    Or: name_____________a___t___________domain________com

Good luck finding a pen pal!

    Andrei has the best idea--
Make a separate "forum" e-mail. Then tell your pen-pal that e-mail so they will e-mail you there.
Then you just add them to your real e-mail, and from then on, e-mail them from your real one.

    Okay, hopefully that makes sense.

Some more elaborate spammers pretend to be friends. Once they get your email you are on all kind of spam lists. The protection I suggested above is against automated email collecting.

Oh, I understand. Protection against robots, not humans.

If you want a foolproof method of protecting your email address from spambots, try reCAPTCHA Mailhide.
