    избыточное цитирование

In forum rules there is usually a rule that forbid to quote more than necessary from the previous posts. This redundant quoting is called "избыточное цитирование".
How to say it in English?
    Thanks.

I don't know. In russian it's common expression. Will "excess quoting" be understood by an average native English speaker in that context?

I have never heard of a rule about excess quoting. Furthermore, I would not understand what you were meant exactly usless you made a full explanation.
In other words I understand the terms "overquoting' and excess quoting" but not the context.

The set term is overquoting. I knew it back in 1994 in Fidonet.

Well, it's recommended not to overquote because huge quotes from other posts (one third of a page or more) usually don't necessary and don't give any usefull information, but take a lot of space and irritate other users. It's recommended to quote only those extracts which are crucial for understanding of your post.

That's common rule on most of the russian-speaking forums. Concider that a good forum manners.

I can explain better in Russian if you wish.

Well, I don't know what to say. I want to say thanks to the Academy, to Mama, to Papa and to my dog. I love you all.

Redundant quoting is my own invention. I'm surprised Google found it at all.

You are right now: "excessive" is better than "excess" (though "excess" means "избыточный" as well).

PS. As you can see, a don't try to argue (unlike of you), when I'am evidently wrong...
