Is there any more or less slang word for a situation when a woman gives hope to a man, but then turns him down and it comes to nothing. In Russian we say динамить, продинамить. "Она его продинамила".

This is called "prick teasing" and the girl in question is a "prick tease".

Наверняка есть более приличные выражения.

Um, we just call that "woman". :P


Or, like Scotcher said, "to tease". This is applicable to women only, but also has a direct meaning which could be confusing unless you use it exactly right. "To lead on" is better, I think, and could be applied to both men and women.

I guess that the word you are seeking is "to dump". It was the first thing to spring into my mind when I saw your request.

Native speakers, correct me if I am wring with my guess.

No, to dump is simply to end a relationship.

I don't think there is a verb that covers flirting/ teasing and turning down in one word.

'To tease' means that nothing comes of it, but it is difficult to use as a verb without misunderstanding. You need the right context. It's easier when it's a noun, i.e. "she is such a tease", which means that a woman is the type to give "hope" but nothing else.

Завлекать is not a good translation for lead on, IMO. 'To lead smb on' means to give smb hope of a relationship, but with no serious intention of having one.

'She led him on' means that she never liked him, but wanted him to like her. It ended in his disappointment.

After looking at a few web pages, I wonder if you aren't right. It certainly seems to be at least one definition. For example:

"Как продинамить девушку (в плане секса) после первого свидания?"
"Чем больше в вас заинтересованы, тем легче «динамить». "

Other examples seem closer to what Olya was describing, like there is a process beforehand.

Просто to tease — это "дразнить", вряд ли кто-то вкладывает в это слово больший смысл. А вот если сказать She only teases, то есть намекнуть, что желаемого продолжения нет, то можно, я думаю.

Yeah, I was wondering if I should have mentioned something when I posted earlier about that. It doesn't mean the same as дразнить here. I guess in English "tease" is just a little bit more flexible.

Ooooooooooooooooo I get itttt.

игорёк has a song called Динамо and I figured it was like about the sports club... But they pretty much just talk about a girl who tricked him the whole song, and in the chorus he says "Дииинааммооо она продинамила меня!!".

I guess I never really thought about it before but... ha ha I get it.

Во второй раз я прочитал как «Оля его продинамила»... Наверно, я просто быстро перевёл взгляд туда со строки, где «очень надо» нписано.
