You could get hold of a copy of a decent English dictionary or, not so good, look at www.dictionary.com.

Just off the top of my head: -

thorough [complete] - (I lost my pen) "I have made a thorough search of my office but I cannot find it"

and meticulous [very precise about detail] "Many hours of meticulous preparation have gone into preparing this reply"

painstaking [very careful - so careful it's painful!]
industrious [hard working, lots of effort] and
diligent [careful over a long time, with commitment to the task]

1. There is not really much difference between these two words. They mean the same thing. Meticulous means 'over careful' and thorough means 'complete/absolute'.

2. Diligent means 'paying attention to detail'.
Industrious means 'hard-working'
Painstaking means 'careful exertion'
