    Object and powers

I'm having trouble with that 'object' (in bold). What does it mean:

Without prejudice to the generality of the object and the powers of the Company derived from Section 3A of the Act the Company has power to do all or any of the following things:

    blah blah blah

    Thanks in advance.

I think "object" here means the general purpose of the Company. There is identical language in the following sample contract:
    3. (i) The object of the Company is to carry on business as a general commercial company.
(ii) Without prejudice to the generality of the object and the powers of the Company derived from Section 3A of the Act the Company has power to do all or any of the following things:

object (PURPOSE) . . . a reason for doing something, or the result you wish to achieve by doing it
    Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define. ... &dict=CALD

Maybe some form of the following could work:
    цель - (перен) aim, goal
с целью - with the object или aim of doing
в целях - for the purpose of

It sounds a bit strange. I think "objective" would sound better. Was it written by a native English speaker?
