    lobstered steel?

... a knight’s gauntlet made of lobstered steel...
Может это быть, например, сталь, покрытая красной эмалью?

I've never heard the expression before, but my guess would be that "to lobster" is to beat steel into the concave shape needed for armour, leaving it somewhat resembling lobster shell.

Delighted to find that 'lobster' can be a verb though!

Not completely sure, but I think that "lobstered" means "looking like lobster joints" or something, i.e. consisting of several separate pieces of steel connected in such a way that the entire assembly is flexible like a lobster's tail.
