Здравствуйте Мэт! Я Артем, друг Валентины обо мне вам писала Татьяна. Валентина сказала мне, что вы можете мне помочь. Я студент математического факультета Калининградского университета и принял участие в студенческой, которая называется «work and travel». Вот адрес http://interexchange.org/ по которому вы сможете узнать об этой программе. Сейчас я собираю все необходимые документы для этой программы и одним из документов должно быть предложение от работодателя. Работодателю только требуется заполнить форму которую я приложил в атачменте, и подтвердить ее когда ему позвонят из центра обмена. В атачменте содержится джоб оффер для моего друга Алекса, он учится вместе со мной на одном факультете. Если можно найдете пожалуйста и для него работу. Я буду вам очень признателен за вашу помощь. Если нужно я могу выслать рекомендательные письма для работодателей от моих преподавателей из университета говорящих на английском языке.

Мы имеем билет на 13 июня и я думаю что 15 июня мы уже сможем приступить к работе.

У меня еще маленький вопрос по поводу моего имени..... Меня зовут Артем и мне сказали, что для американцев трудновато выговорить это имя и посоветовали, как нибудь изменить свое или придумать новое. Да вообще честно говоря мне самому ненравиться, как оно звучит по английски. Собственно вопрос состоит в том так ли это и стоит это делать (изменять свое имя)? И если да то помогите с вариантами! Всем спасибо.

по-моему не стоит изменить своё имя. Чаще и чаще встречаются необыкновенные имени в Америке, и люди привыкают говорить те. По-английски, ваше имя будет Artyem, ничего странного в этом нет.

Mmm it wouldn't make much difference I don't think. Anyway most people find foreign names cool as long as they can pronounce them.

Actually I have heard "Art" before as a short for Arthur. You don't have to officially change your name, but just use "Art" as a nickname. Introduce yourself as "Art", just like that I sometimes introduce myself as "Vinnie" when my real name is (gasp) Vincentz.

There's always "Artie" too. Another option could even be to just stick his имя and отчество together and call himself by his two initials -- thus, if you're Артем Иванович you become A.I. Just a thought.

With all that being said, I would still say just stick with Artyem -- (maybe if you want to make sure the pronounciation is closer to Russian go by Artyom, not Artyem -- it's a bit easier for English-speakers). You should use whatever you want to use -- pronouncing a two-syllable name ain't exactly rocket science, so they'll just have to get over it.

I would recommend Art.

Artie sounds kind of cutesy, although in the 1940s-50s there was a well-known band leader Artie Shaw.

Still, Art is the best choice.

Nah, I'd say the corrupted version would be more like "Art-yom" or "Arty-om"...if only his last name were somthing like "Khrushchev" he could go by the cool "A.X." -- Ax!
