    leaving life to chance?

the dangers of leaving life to chance..
What does it mean? Единственное, что приходит в голову, "жить наудачу/наавось". А что на самом деле?

    It means something like

In this phrase the word chance has a similar meaning to probability or risk. So the actual meaning is something like "The dangers of running your life by risk".

The word chance in this phrase means chance.

"Leaving life to chance" means letting let things go as they will - not striving for anything, but allowing events take their own course without your interference. If you're living by chance, you're allowing things to happen, or "chance", as they will. The verb "to chance" is sometimes used in old books and fairy tales like this - "I chanced upon the maiden at the riverside", meaning "I happened (by chance, or randomly) to find the maiden at the riverside." The danger, or risk, in living by chance is that chance will slight you.

    Let's not confuse him, simply:

The dangers of living life to chance ==

The dangers of not controlling your own life

Thanks, I think I got it. It looks close to "пускать дела на самотек" or "плыть по течению".
