    got a problem...

Could you explain the red part of this phrase:

"this book shall not, by way of trade or otherwise, be lent, re-sold, hired out or otherwise circulated without the publisher's prior consent in any form of binding or cover other than that in which it is published and without a similar condition being imposed on the subsequent purchaser"

I couldnt understand the red part... what does "binding and cover" mean ?

"Binding" refers to the process of adding a "cover". It just means you're not supposed to "repackage" the book. They really should have put "without the publisher's prior consent" in parentheses. Take that phrase out for a moment and re-read the passage.

Binding, Binder or cover = The outside of the book or the covering. Either hard cardboard (hardback) or a thinner cover (softback)

    binding - переплёт
cover - обложка, может быть твердой или мягкой

Иными словами обложка и переплёт не могут быть изменены...

Yeah, "binding" is one of those funny words. It's both a verb and a noun.

You "bind" a book when you put a cover on it (most libraries have a "Bindery Room") and the finished product is itself called a "binding".
