Никаких проблем, совершенно нормальное употребление.

Надо платить за учебу. Дома можно идти в университет, скажем, всего за $10,000 в год. Это fee нормальная. А если идете в университет в соседнем штате, там для «неграждан» fee повышенная, напр $15,000 в год. Тhe tuition fee is more expensive than it is at home.

Так, fees бывают и дешевыми, и нормальными, и дорогими.

The thing is that in Russian saying "дешевые/дорогие цены" is a lexical mistake (sadly, a widespread one), a sign of illiteracy. "Цены" in Russian can be only "высокие/низкие", expensive or cheap are the products/goods/services, not the prices/fees themselves.

So it doesn't apply in English?

Понял. Да вы наверное правы. high price, low price = expensive item, cheap item. Но цены выскокие и низкие.

It’s been a long time but this Hanna’s link дешёвый - Wiktionary on another thread made me remember this topic.
Have you noticed how дешёвые цены slowly but steadily creep in? The English equivalent is still correct.

дешёвый (dešóvyj) m
cheap, inexpensive, low (of a price)
Цены там дешёвые — The prices over there are low.

Of course Wiktionary does not necessarily say the ultimate truth but it’s addressed to by many and can surely affect people’s minds. In a couple years a TV anchor man says the words and nobody bats an eye.
