    Does the full stop go inside or outside the quotation marks? I see people doing it both ways all the time....

    Argh, punctuation sucks.

    EDIT: so if someone's speaking it goes on the inside, but what if you are just quoting one word or something.... doesn't it look a bit strange like this:

    This word means "dog."

    Most definately. People on the internet are often somewhat lacking in grammatical accuracy... and now I have no idea which is correct anymore.
