*Gosh, you can’t get away from sports here.
I stayed with Joe for 2 weeks. I think he is crazy about sports. You know, coverage of sports events takes up a lot of the time here. So,+ Joe can spend hours watching some football matches. He said that football is only a spectator sport because it’s a rough game. A rock always rolls downhill, but don’t think that he is an armchair quarterback. Joe gets people together several times a week to play baseball, works out in gyms and he is into jogging like {delete 'the'}most Americans. No wonder that he doesn’t have much time for reading. He is such a sort of a man that we call doers. It strikes me as unusual that even his girlfriend watches the games and roots for Los Angeles Lakers. She told me, that when she was younger she was a football cheerleader. On Sunday we arranged to go to a football match. Joe bought tickets beforehand because football is such a popular sport that the tickets for a game are all sold out a week before the game. It was the first time I watched a real American football game. Of course, it differs a lot from usual soccer. The ball is egg-shaped with pointed ends, the goal posts look like the letter H and, of course, the rules of the game are different. You can kick, pass and run with the ball, you can also tackle other players. We jumped up and down in the stands and shouted. So, it was fantastic!
Joe promised to teach me to play softball. It’ll be great! I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours, Anna.
