    Traditional songs

Along the lines of Ochi cherniye, Kalinka, Katusha, etc. What would be a really easy one to learn? I like Kalinka and Krokodila Genya, but K.G. is rather extensive, lyrically, and Kalinka is hard to sing. =P

    Na boj krovavyj
    (svyatoj i pravyj
    Marsh, marsh vperyo-ho-hod
    Rabochij narod)

Is a cool song, and the words are quite easy to remember.
    Army Anti-Strapjes
    Nay, mats jar tripes
    Jasper is my Tartan
    I am a trans-Jert spy
    Jerpty Samaritans
    Pijams are tyrants
    Jana Sperm Tit Arsy

Here's a fantastic song for you to learn - my favourite one, by the way.

Omg Kapitan Vrungel! Yes, it is a good one, but I think it might be a little confusing for those learning Russian because of all the endings

Why not? Yes they would, its a folk song. Everyone knows it and hums/sings it once in a while.

    Here's another one.

Here is one... which i have stumbled on in a couple of difrent places, and i think one of thebest versions, was shown to me recently by our very own friendy (clap clap)... I'm not sure what the song is actually called, since it have been remixed so many times, and im not sure if it's "Classical" or "Folk" enough for you, but it sure sounds lovely.

Original version.

    http://music.nonymous777.com/files/o...yaya_poema.mp3

Remix
    http://www.russki-razmer.spb.ru/mp3.html

    Cd- Next

~I think both versions are marvelous, i can't decide which i like better.
The original is well, original, and the RR version i think utilizes alot of newer technology to really make the song sound "refreshed"... yet it still keeps it's "traditional" ring.

In all the songs, the words stay the same.

That's such a pretty song! I've never heard it before. I don't think it's either folk or classical....maybe it's from an old Russian movie? It sounds like it could be.

Edited to say: Oh duh, it's from the movie "Вам и не снилось" right?

Well, I've never heard it. So please stop making sweeping generalizations, could you? Everyone knows it... Everyone hums it once in a while... Yeah right, hums it. Hums it my @rse. You're more likely to hear someone hum Foggy Dew in a Swiss German translation during a total lunar eclipse while bouncing on a bungee wearing an aqualung and dutch klompen and Kasparov's birthday tattooed on their left buttock in shorthand than some obscure russian folk song (if it is one as you say).

Yah, because it's a folk song, appropriately posted in a thread about traditional/folk songs....

I'm not generalizing here at all - I admit that some folks who are a bit round the bend may well do so. Especially during a vod-king-do sparring.

It's certainly not a folk song but I won't be surprised if it is considered classical some day. Алексей Рыбников is a modern composer (born in 1945) and Ирина Отиева is a popular singer. I read somewhere that in the movie she is singing in duo with someone else. I think the song was made specially for the film (Рыбников composed music to a lot of movies). The original text is by Rabindranat Tagor (1861-1941) and the Russian text is by Аделина Адалис.

Babul used to sing this to me on lonely cold winter nights back in the old country ( I reallly miss her )

    (How you like it daddy?)
Would you do it from the front?
    (How you like it daddy?)
Would you do it from the back?
    (How you like it daddy?)
Fyna break it down like that!
    (How you like it daddy?)

    (How you like it daddy?)
Would you do it from the front?
    (How you like it daddy?)
Can you take it from the back?
    (How you like it daddy?)
Fyna break it down like that!
    (How you like it daddy?)

    [Verse One:]
24, 34, 46, good and thick, and once you get it she'll work with it.
Put a face and some cute lips, earing and a tongue and she'll know what to do wit it.
Make a name for herself, and she do her sht well, and know how to keep her business to herself.
Come over anytime a niggah call chick, 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, (ding dong) and she right there.
And she know why she came here, and she know where her clothes suppose to be (off and over there).
Sniff a little coke, take a little x, smoke a little weed, drink a little bit.
I need a girl that I can freak with,
and wanna try sht, and ain't scared of a big dick.
And love to get her pussy licked,
by another bitch, cus I ain't drunk enough to do that.

    [Chorus:]
    FREAKALEEK!
(Do you like it daddy?) Shameka
    Keisha
(Do you like it daddy?) Tara
    FREAKALEEK!
    Shonda
(Do you like it daddy?) Sabrina
    Crystal
    (Do you like it daddy?)Daronda
    FREAKALEEK!
    Theresa
(Do you like it daddy?) Falicia
    Tenisha
(Do you like it daddy?) Sharon
    FREAKALEEK!
    Monica
(Do you like it daddy?) Monique
    Christina
(Do you like it daddy?) Yolanda

    [Verse Two:]
I need to know a whole lot then to teachin' a broad, with my ding dong make her tongue tickin the bong.
Go on ahead so I dont have to do that far, I'm spoiled (and I don't like to work that hard).
I like to lay back, relax, and enjoy my time, and let your eyes roll back and my toes curl.
(I love when you do that girl) Until it comes time for me to have to give her hers.
Tell me what you want, do you want it missionary with your feet cramed into the head board?
Do you want it from the back with your face in the pillow so you can
yell it loud if you want to?
Do you want it on the floor? Do you want it on the chair?
Do you want it over here? Do you want it over there?
Do you want it in ya pussy? Do you want it in ya ass?
I'll give you anything you can handle!
Call to a hardware store: "I'm sure you know more about the caulk than I do...tell me...is there a taste to the caulk?".
