My wife was asked to do a reading at a local carol concert and we thought it would be good to do a piece related to Christmasw and Russia since it was to raise funds for a charity working in eastern Europe.
But we found it very difficult to find a suitable piece. From my reading of Russian literature, I could not recall a single Christmas-based scene (apart from Gogol's short story 'The night before Christmas' which is not really suitable). Why this strange gap? Or is it just a gap in my knowledge?
Can anyone suggest suitable pieces for the future? May be there are hidden gems that aren't translated?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
