The origin of Red Star in russian folklore/culture/history
I could not find a satisfactory explanation on the origin and symbolistics of the russian Red Star. Can somebody point me to an article or book that somehow traces the origin of the star from a historical/religious/cultural/political perspective. I would like a good analysis. Also, you can comment on it. I would like to get a good answer right away. Who was the first in Russian history to have the star as a symbol? What does it sifnify? How did it become red ? I'm dying of curiosity.
Thanks,
Laviniu

As kalinka said, red color symbolizes blood and bloody struggle.
Five-ended star symbolizes five continents of the Earth (as I can remember).
Of course, the five-ended star (pentagram) also has a plenty of occult, and event satanic, symbolism associated with it. For fans of conspiracy theories this is a perfect opportunity to speculate. ;)
