Oh are they the same thing, I didn't know that. I saw a guy clean and fix an AK47 once (an Israeli soldier) He explained why it was a "good weapon". Simple but reliable and efficient. You see them all the time in Israel - since there are soldiers everywhere and most of them carry one. I didn't realise those were Russian weapons. Spooky though. Sad that they are still in use.....

The man made a great rifle, but I still don't understand though why he objects the buttstock axis being aligned with the barrel. Supposedly he made it so that firing from a trench wouldn't expose the soldier but there's that magazine anyway so this seems a little bit illogical.
