Thread: Anatoly Fomenko's "New Chronology"

It looks like Fomenko's works are becoming more or less known worldwide -- so it's interesting to know, what people are thinking about him and his ideas about history of humankind. I know his ideas are quite weird, but is there anything beyond just "weirdness" -- may be a topic for discussion.

Is history (as we know it) the solid science -- or it is just a myth, created in so-called "medieval" time? In the case you never heard about Fomenko, here are a couple of links:

The shape and size of the Earth is very easy to verify by the means of modern (and even not so modern) science.
The history is not so easy to verify -- until invention of the time machine, of course .

I just find it extremely peculiar that old books, papyruses, sagas and such were all invented at a certain point in time, just to "invent" history.

No, Fomenko didn't say all of these were "invented". He just suppose, what probably some of the "ancient" books, chronicles and buildings may be much younger really.

Precisely, this is the reason, why I mention Fomenko's theory in this forum. IMHO, his theories are 70-80% garbage... but this leaves 20-30%, which worth to seriously think about.

Rephrasing Seinfeld, not having to go through trash to find something of use is what separates a man from a bum.

I agree, why try to find wise thoughts from crackheads?
