Thread: I'm looking for The Complete Amber Chronicles in English

I live in Russia, so I can't find this book by Roger Zelazny here, and I can't order it at Amazon because their payment methods aren't available for me.

I'll willingly trade any book in Russian to this book by mail. A small note- I'm planning to give this book as a birthday gift, i. e. it must be perfectly new.

AFAIK, *complete* "Amber Chronicles" are 10 books.

Frankly, I guess I was wrong. I have it in two books in Russuan edition. Anyway, they are sold in a set, ~$16 at Amazon.

We can do a trade... 2 russian brides per book. Send express overnight air mail and package them nicely. I'll do the same.

Thanks, Dogboy182, (the?) English articles are my permanent problem.

Dogboy's correction was unnecessary. 'this' is perfectly good in this context.
'this' is particularly appropriate if you are contrasting this book with other books.
'the' is more appropriate if there is only one book involved.
The difference is .. not important, seriously.

But she wasn't. Nor was she pointing to a book. Nor was the book directly aforementioned.

As such, 'the' is very preferable here.

She may have had other books in mind. Don't give me the pointing thing, come on I agree it's an 80-20 thing that you'd use 'the' there, but the point is I didn't see a necessity for a correction.

'Would have' over 'would of' is, in my estimation, another 80-20 thing; would you let the latter pass unhindered? In Indra's context, 'I got this book' is no less incorrect.

'would of' is completely wrong. It's based on a mishearing of the reduced form of 'have'.. 'I got this book' is totally normal English ('I got this book yesterday at the bookshop'), you can only possibly argue that it's wrong in certain contexts.
