    Dariya

    My girlfriends name is Dariya what are the origins of this name if anyone knows please.

    The name obviously is Russian, the origin is not quite known to me, I am not an expert, but in turk languages that means River. I guess that could be origin.

    The name (Dariya (Дарья)) has Persian origin (язык фарси). In Persian it means “strong, powerful, winning”.

    Только непонятно «тюрк.-перс.»? Это же разные языки.

    Yes , Daria (Daryush) is a Persian name .
    It was the name of a Persian king in 2500 years ago. but in Persian Daryush is a name for men not for women.

    Also Даша is short for Дарья.
