My girlfriends name is Dariya what are the origins of this name if anyone knows please.
The name obviously is Russian, the origin is not quite known to me, I am not an expert, but in turk languages that means River. I guess that could be origin.
I might be silly, but I figured that Дария would somehow be connected to the world Дар, gift... Gift (from God)?
This is Daria. She has a show on MTV, and also makes appearances on Beavis and Butthead.

In my region there is a mixture of persian and turk languages, and a lot of words got into both.
Thank you !!
Yes , Daria (Daryush) is a Persian name .
It was the name of a Persian king in 2500 years ago. but in Persian Daryush is a name for men not for women.
pioner , where are you from and what is your language?

Also Даша is short for Дарья.
