About a year ago, just for fun, i was lookin at those "discount" apartments in moscow. You know, the DISCOUNT ones. 1 room, kitchen, Большая комната, and a bed. 20 to 30$ per night. I found like 5 or 6 GOOD webpages. I also did bookmark quite a few.

I started looking today, (my mom deleted all the bookmarks) for some websites like those... or the same ones. And i can't find anything. You know that you are desperate when you are actually checking out UNCLE PASHA for real! But, even uncle pasha is too expensive for me! Maybe i am just too poor and should be shot. Or maybe google is broken. I have typed in EVERYTHING from -

Still, i get the same freakin 5 websites that... ARЁN'T THAT CHEAP.
If anybody knows of some websites that are between 20- 35$ USD per night, apartment wise could you please let me know ?!!??! I cant freakin believe it ! i remember there used to be pages and pages of pictures and infomation and whatnot. Now, i can't find anything! All i remember is that 80 % of the apartments were located on, or nearby "Belorusskaya ulitsa", or maybe belorusskaya was the name of a nearby metro stop ? I'm not 100% Уверен, my moscow geography isn't great. Maybe i can search for that criteria next, but i swear im about to commit suicide over here.

Oh yes. I also remember about that time last year, I searched for apartments in St. peterburg and couldn't find jack **** Absolutely nothing... kinda like how i am now. But nooo, Now i type in "moscow" and 80% of the results are in peter. WTF ? are the chechens hacking my mainframe or чё ?

Sure, it's in keiv. But all the websites had pretty much that same crappy layout as this. Old school low-tech backround, but good thumbnails. Still that apartment is about 20$ too expensive. but i guess i can use it has a starting point.

$30 a night !!! One room flats in the neighborhoods at the ends of the metro lines can be rented for $250 a month (1 room, bath, kitchen). But you won't find them on any website. Language schools have apartments for around $300-$400 per month and dorms are a lot less. I think I paid only $6 a day last summer for a dorm room with shared bath and a communal kitchen down the hall.

Yes, that's a tough thing to do on your own..
How about this :
use forums (such as this one, but there are others!) and post a kind of 'advert'.

For example, say where you want to stay, how long you're going to be there, and how much you're prepared to spend..
and, here's the catch, offer practice in English conversation in exchange for accommodation + whatever small amount you're prepared to pay per night. Obviously, the longer you're staying, the more interest you'll get and the better deal you'll get. Best of all would be to write the ad in Russian

The problem with this idea is that you might attract fakes.. you'd have to figure out how you were going to decide whether they were trustworthy or not. Use your noddle, as we Brits say..

Hmm, this reminds me, isn't there some kind of agency which arranges family homestays nowadays?

i had to use yahoo search engine . Go figure. Anyways, it doesn't seem so bad, the landlord is a semi attractive 22 year old (puts on the dogboy charm). The only thing i am worried about now is that i am an extremly suspicious/ distrusting person. How do i know that's not a fake and they will just steal my money and i'll have to sleep in the airport and!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg! So... i dunno.

So JB, do those dorms have a TV ? and can i rent one if i am not a student ?? They allow that in one petersburg dorm that I know of. If i can stay there for 6$ a day, i am sold! And, i will probly end up paying 600 dollars for 3 weeks at 20 dollars a day. Even if i payed for a whole month at 400 dollars, i'd still save 200$ Even though i'm losing a whole week.

Some dorms come with TV, some you can rent a TV and phone from the dorm office. The TVs usually don't have the remote control or an antenna but a wire coat hanger makes a good substitute. My friend also was able to make a remote control out of his cell phone (3 cheers for Russian electrical engineering students!).
Low priced dorms are usually for the school's students. The price is higher if you are just a tourist.

I'm getting desperate. Does anybody have a floor i can sleep on ?? I'll pay you per square inch i take up. I'll even give you 100 dollars for a blanket. PLEASE.

Get some newspapers for about 25cents and find a nice cozy park bench to spend the night on...

If not try some youth hostels. They're cheap... and a cock-approved place to meet chicks.
