Добрый день!

Сегодня я попытался переводить текст на английском языке на русскому языку. Пожалуйста вы можете контролировать oн ? (What I tried to say is: Today I tried to translate a text in English into Russian. Could you please control it)

Orginal Text:

Something very bad happens in California. A man drives fast into people. It is not an accident. He does it because he wants to.

It happens near a beach. It is normally a nice place to visit, but now people are afraid. One woman dies. Eleven other people injured.

The man who was in the car is 38. He tells the police about his crime. The police arrest him.

Кое-что очень плохое случилось в Калифорнии. Один человек въехал на высокой скорости в прохожих/людей (The first one is better if you ask me). Это не несчастный случай. Он сделал это, потому что захотел. (Он сделал это преднамеренно - even better)

Это произошло/случилось у побережья (Это произошло/случилось возле пляжа/рядом с пляжем). Раньше люди охотно приходили в это место, но сейчас люди боятся приходить туда. Одна женщина погибла/умерла (the first one is better), одиннадцать человек пострадали/получили ранения (the first one is better).

Человеку, которой был в машине, тридцать восемь лет. Он рассказал полиции о своём преступлении. Его арестовали/задержали.

Why do you use Кое-что instead of Что-нибудь?

катался на машине is incorrect to mean “drove a car”?

высокой скорости is a set phrase for “fast speed”? When I use быстро катался does it look incorrect?

Why do you use произошло instead of происходил? What is the exact difference?

Why do you use приходить instead of навестить? What is the exact difference?

Why do you use погибла instead of умера? What is the exact difference?

Why do you se пострадали instead of ранили? What is the exact difference?

Один человек быстро катался (тут следует употребить глагол совершенного вида, катался - несовершенный вид, то есть звучит так, будто он некоторое время катался туда-сюда по людям... можно сказать наехал) на машине на людям (на людей). Это нет инцидента (accident здесь случайность). Он сделал это потому что он захотел (тут следует употребить глагол несовершенного вида - например: Он хотел этого. Всякие важные люди сказали бы, что наезд был совершен преднамеренно).

Это инцидент (нет там такого слова) происходил у побережье (у побережья - требуется родительный падеж). Это место раньше было приятно (приятный - прилагательное, оно характеризует какие-либо объекты, приятно - наречие, оно описывает действие) навестить (навещают обычно друзей, родственников, места посещают), но сейчас людям страшно. Одна женщина умерла. Одиннадцать людей ранены.

Человеку, которой был в машине, тридцать восемь лет (про возраст говорят так. Мне 27 лет. Ему 25.). Он сообщил полиции о своем преступлении.

Yep, this is a set phrase.
я попытался переводить текст на английском языке на русский язык - That is how you should have written if you wanted to go with the original phrase, but it doesn't sound good anyway

Because что-нибудь implies that you don't specify what happened, just whatever. To be more clear it sounds like this:

Anything bad happened...

Кое-что means that you specify only one thing that happened and you know exactly what it was ;)

Кататься на машине - is to drive around with no particular direction. It doesn't mean to run into, which you obviously need there

ехать на высокой скорости is a set phrase. For the other part of the question look at the above explanation.

Приходить is to come to a place.
Навестить is to come see a person or persons. It's usually about paying a friendly visit to someone. It's not about places, it's about seeing people.

Умереть - just conveys death. It doesn't focus on how you died. One can умереть either from natural causes or by being shot for example.
Погибнуть means tragic death, that's why it fits in better in your text, makes it more expressive

Ранили sounds like all of them got only wounds, not broken legs, ribs, concussions, which I strongly doubt because if someone gets hit with a vehicle they most likely to get fractured bones and only some wounds or no wounds at all.
Ранить is most likely to be used if someone gets shot by a gun or gets a sharp metal splinter from the granade for example. Those kinds of things cause wounds

Пострадать is a wider term, it implies wounds, broken bones, concussions, even mental suffering, so I think it's more appropriate to use this one there

Ранены is ok here.

For example.

При взрыве в десятиэтажном жилом доме 7 августа погибли не менее 10 человек, 12 человек числятся пропавшими без вести и 63 были ранены.

Usually this is the way it is said in news etc.

I've noticed you still mix them up.

There are two big groups:
Что-то / кое-что, кто-то / кое-кто and нечто, некто -- refer to something and someone, an unknown specific object.
Что-нибудь, кто-нибудь, какой-нибудь etc -- refer to any- ... -thing/-one, so "-нибудь" part implies "any" or "some", a set of unknown objects you should browse to select the only one.
I hope it helps you do not mix these two groups.

The difference between the pairs: кое-что/кое-кто and что-то/кто-то
Кое-что случилось в Калифорнии... -- we know what exactly happened, so we used "кое-что".
Что-то случилось в Калифорнии... -- in fact, we don't know what really happened; we could hear that something occured, but we don't have exact information, so we used "что-то".
Кто-то напал на полицейского -- we don't know who attacked the cop, so we use "кто-то" (an unknown specific person).
Кое-кто напал на полицейского -- we know who this person is, so we're going to uncover him, or, on the contrary, we're going to hide this information (in this case "кое-кто" sounds like a hint).

About -нибудь words, I guess I could confuse you with "a set of objects" explanation. So I proceed with some examples.
Imagine that you are a witness. You saw how a criminal stole something. So now you are in the police station and you have to identify the criminal. You're looking at a few persons and a cop asks you (in perfect Russian):
- Кто-нибудь из этих людей вам знаком? Вы когда-нибудь видели кого-нибудь из них? Вы заметили какие-нибудь особые приметы преступника? На этих людях есть что-нибудь из одежды преступника?
Yes, in every sentence the cop offers you to select the right variant(s) from a set of the variants or reject all.

I tried to write some sentences, are they correct?

-Там много соков. Что-нибудь ты хочешь выпить? (There are alot of juice. What would you like to drink)
-Сегодня утром я увидел кое-кто. Я буду говорить вам кого потом. (This morning I saw someone. I will tell you who later)
-Вчера вечером в темноте кто-то бегал на улице. Я не знаю кого бегал, потому что это было очень темно а я не увидел. (Yesterday night in the dark I saw someone runing on the street. I do not know who was runing because it was so dark and i did not see)

- У нас/меня много сока. Что ты будешь пить?
- Сегодня утром я видел кое-кого. Я скажу вам кого позже/попозже/потом. - The first two are better
- Вчера тёмной ночью я видел, как кто-то бегал по улице. Я не знаю, кто это был, потому что было так темно, что я не смог рассмотреть его/что я ничего не увидел. - The second one is better.

Something like that
