    Plural

Ok, on masterrussian I read that for a masculine noun ending in a hard consonant or a feminine noun ending in -a, the plural is formed by adding -ы.

However, I read elsewhere that the plural of девочка is девочки. Shouldn't it be девочкы?

    Thanks.

No. it's девочки. The letter 'ы' changes to 'и' if it follows a ж, к, г, х, ч, ш, or щ. In the word 'девочка', the letter right before the ending is a к because the 'a' is dropped, so that means the 'ы' changes to 'и'.
